Cause
Nepal
The
2015 Nepal Earthquake, also known as Gorka Earthquake, occurred at a convergent
plate boundary. It was the result of the Indo Australian plate moving northwards
and converging with the Eurasia plate. This
is why the Himalayas are where they are today because these two plates are
converging. in fact the largest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, is
located here growing 40 millimetres per year. Nepal is located on a fault line
which marks the boundary between the Indo Australia plate and the Eurasian
plate. This means that Nepal is highly prone to Earthquakes and they happen
quite frequently.
Location
The location of the epicentre of the Gorka Earthquake was only
77 km away from Kathmandu and the focus was 15 km under the ground
